Volunteer.

Ready to make a difference?

Volunteers are the very backbone of our organization. Because we cover Colorado, and our neighboring states, we rely on volunteers to assess dogs in shelters, assist with transports, conduct home visits and various other volunteer opportunities. If you have a love for this wonderful breed and a desire to help make a difference in the lives of GSP’s in need, please consider volunteering. These dogs need you! We need you! Saving GSPs takes a village and we’d love it if you join ours!

Not quite sure how you'd like to help? Check out our Volunteer Opportunities below to get some ideas.

If you would prefer you can and email the completed PDF application to allpointswestgsp@gmail.com or mail in your completed form to APWGSPR, PO BOX 2822, Elizabeth, CO 80107.

Transporter.

All Points West GSPR is in search of Transporters to help us retrieve and deliver dogs from shelters, surrendering owners, and other rescues to their new foster family or from APWGSPR to their new adoptive home. Have a GSP friendly vehicle and love a good roadtrip? If so we would love to chat with you.

Home visits.

Home Visit volunteers help us screen prospective adoptive/foster families’ homes looking to add a GSP to their home. Home checks are performed for every prospective adoptive and foster family.  We like to make sure that every new home has certain required elements. This entails visiting with the applicant at their home, observing the environment, both physical and emotional, and determining if this is a suitable home for the GSP. Different Shorthairs will have different needs in what constitutes a proper home for them. The process does not take long and is very rewarding.  Sound like fun?

Dog spotter.

Do you feel competent to identify a GSP, its colors and markings, whether it is a purebred or mixed Shorthair? All Points West GSPR is looking for an individual to help us perform internet searches on several websites for GSPs in need of rescue and in shelters. Internet access and strong knowledge of the GSP breed standard are required, guidance and training will be provided. Time commitment - approximately 1-2 hours twice a week.

All Points West GSPR is seeking a Follow up Specialist to help us follow our adopted GSPs in their new lives. You will be assigned a dog(s) to follow over their first year in their new home. You will be there to support new owners to ensure a successful placement by reaching out on set intervals and connecting them with help if needed. At APWGSPR we are committed to our owners and their new pointer.
The opportunity will be geared toward your strengths, but will include some combination of the following:

Certified trainer or behavioral specialist.

Are you a certified dog trainer or an animal behavior consultant? We need both! Proper training and socialization greatly increases a dog’s chance of being adopted. Sometimes we receive a rescue that has endured a particularly difficult life prior to rescue and could benefit for a behavior consultation and desensitization. If you are certified or have extensive experience in either training or canine behavior and would be willing to donate your services please contact us.

Are you crafty? Do you craft, sew, woodwork or are you an artist?

Yes, well please volunteer. We need you! We are always looking for creative minds and artsy souls to help us create items to sell in our online store. We also need assistance with creating Adopt Me bandana's along with other items for our fundraising events.
