About

Scout - CO

Scout is 1 yr old, he will be neutered very soon and he will be ready for his forever home! Scout is so SWEET! He has never met a stranger and is affectionate and loving to both humans and other dogs. He is a happy, happy, HAPPY, playful and very silly boy! He is an amazing companion and a great friend to all. As a dog with a lot of puppy tendencies, Scout does well with structure. Meals and potty at the same time each day, along with crate/chill time and exercise placed throughout the day are all very important to his well being. Scout's favorite activity is whatever the heck you're doing! Want to watch TV on the couch? Great! Long walk? Great! Game of tug? Well that's his favorite. Scout gets a lot out of interacting with his humans and is amenable to most things as long as you're there with him. Even bath time is kind of fun! Scout loves to play tug, with other dogs and with people. He also enjoys chewing on things, and has gotten a lot out of bones and frozen Kong's. So far he is not into fetch. He also enjoys learning new things and would love to learn some advanced commands/further his training. For a dog with no formal training he does very well on the leash! He occasionally lunges and pulls if he sees something exciting, but he is easily re-directed. He also does very well on a long line. We use a martingale collar to walk him. Scout is *very friendly* when meeting both dogs and people. He is however, also very bouncy! He needs to be carefully introduced to young children and other dogs because he can be a bit eager and in your face. Though excitable, he has done fine in public settings like breweries and patios. He was in a temporary foster home with a cat which had mixed results. He *may* be able to go to a cat home with a dog savvy cat and owners that are committed to breaking any bad cat habits. Scout would do well in a variety of homes. So long as they can provide: structure and continued training, ~1 hour of exercise/day, and a lot of love, he will thrive! He does bark to alert occasionally, so if you live in a condo or townhome, that could be an issue. We believe Scout would be fine living with a family that is gone during the work day, so long as they can give him exercise/stimulation/attention before and after work. Generally speaking he is very good in the crate. There may be some whining and light barking occasionally, but 90% of the time he sleeps soundly or relaxes. Scout is someone's dream companion dog! He is sweet, silly, smart, and very very funny. He's a big boy with a big personality!
