Ruger

Ruger is a dog with two speeds: fast and faster! This handsome German Shorthaired Pointer found himself in rescue when his original family simply couldn't give him the time, exercise, and outlet he needed to thrive. Like many pointers, Ruger isn't built for a life of lounging around all day—he was born to run, explore, and share adventures with his people.

After arriving in rescue, Ruger was quickly adopted, however his current home is no longer a good fit. His adopter was recently diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and is no longer able to provide the level of care and activity that this energetic boy needs during treatment.

Ruger is the definition of a sporting dog. He loves to stretch his legs, use his nose, and be involved in whatever his humans are doing. If you're looking for a hiking buddy, running partner, trail companion, or a dog that will enthusiastically join every outdoor adventure, Ruger is ready to clock in for duty.

He's lived successfully with small dogs and another GSP and has enjoyed having canine companions. He's also lived with children ranging from toddlers to teenagers and has done well with them. What Ruger needs most is a home that understands and appreciates the pointer mindset: active, intelligent, affectionate, and always up for action.
