Cable - CO

Cable here, and as you can see from my pictures, I’m a dashing 7 year old solid black GSP. My Dad asked APWGSP to help find me a new family because his job requires him to travel for weeks at a time and there’s no one else to take care of me when he’s gone. Handsome, decent on leash but do admit, I need some work on not pulling. I'm housebroken, non-destructive (i.e. I don’t require a crate), love people of all ages and I’ve lived with a 12 year old boy who I adored. I know basic commands, love a good game of fetch and will bring the ball back as long as your arm will hold out!

My only drawback is that due to a dog park incident when I was younger, I’ve not been socialized with other dogs. I’m not aggressive, just unsure and not confident of how to meet and interact with another dog. The rescue had a behaviorist evaluate me and she says I need confidence and slow socialization with other dogs but that my ideal home would be a family without other dogs so that I can be myself and not stressed. In the right situation I can probably live with a non-dominant female and be okay but again, slow and steady is a must.
