Pepper - CO

Pepper arrived in sunny Colorado in February of 2022. She is 1.5-year-old very sweet Pointer mix, she's spayed, and up to date on all vaccines.

Like any English Pointer, Pepper is an affectionate girl and loves attention and pets from her humans. She is truly a lover and loves every minute of couch time and snuggles she can get with her people. She is house trained, not destructive in the home, and sleeps through the night. Her favorite place to nap and sleep is on the couch or right next to her human. Pepper is not crated in her current foster home, but she is crate trained.

Although the cold and rainy weather can make her want to curl up under a blanket and sleep all day, Pepper is also extremely active and would do well with an owner who is also very active and experienced with the Pointer/bird dog breed. She would thrive in a home with one or more dogs who love to be outside and squirrel watch with her! She has a healthy prey drive, so no cats, pet bunnies, or squirrels if Pepper is around! Pepper’s foster mom has a very large backyard with a 6-foot fence, so Pepper would also need that in her new home. Pepper knows basic commands such as sit, come, and is working on her leash skills. Pepper does well on an e-collar.

Pepper is currently being fostered in a home with two other bird dogs: a 5-year-old male English Setter and a 5-year-old female Coonhound Mix. They are getting along very well, and Pepper’s foster mom has not seen any problems with resource guarding of any kind. They have not heard Pepper bark yet, but she is still warming up to her new life of living in a warm house with regular meals.

Pepper LOVES food, She eats twice a day, loves treats, antlers, bully sticks, and any kind of chew treat that keeps her busy. Pepper gets very excited for mealtime! Her foster mom has not seen any counter surfing activity of any kind.

Pepper is not a fan of bath time but will tolerate it and loves to be rewarded with a treat after her “traumatic” experience lol. She loves being squeaky clean!

Pepper does extremely well on car rides, is very calm, and would love nothing more than to (safely) stick her head out of the car window to catch a nice breeze!

Will you make room in your heart and home for this precious pointer pup?
